We are Mike and Mary Butterfield, a husband and wife team doing our best to help Mary's friends, family, and others in Nigeria, where day-to-day life is incredibly challenging. The entire focus of our business is meeting that need.Mary's lifelong dream has been to help as many children in NIgeria as possible to attend school and to have the basic necessities for school attendance. She has been able to act on this dream, having supplied uniforms, shoes, backpacks, textbooks, and supplies for several classrooms in need (see the pic gallery below). This has only been made possible by the gracious support of our customers who purchase our products and by the generous donations we receive along the way. We are forever thankful for each and every purchase and each and every dollar that comes our way.Along with our focus on Nigerian school children, we also do as much as we can to help Mary's friends and family cope with their very challenging day-to-day struggles. Pervasive poverty, runaway inflation, and very sporadic employment opportunities have made even the most basic needs almost out of reach for the majority of Nigerians. Likewise, health care is often completely neglected because the funds just aren't there for most citizens, even though health services are extremely inexpensive compared to the US. A quick example: Mary's aunt recently spent 5 days in the hospital being treated for typhoid. The entire bill was $185 US. But the sad reality is that she would not have been able to be treated if we didn't have the means to help her with the bill. Typhoid would have likely been her demise without treatment.We are not any kind of established charity so donations are not tax deductible, but we also don't have any charity overhead. Because of that, 100% of every donation ends up in the hands of the people who really need it. Along with the generous donations, pretty much every penny of proceeds from our business is used in the same way. We keep our expenses as low as possible so we can make as large an impact as possible.All that to say that we sincerely appreciate each and every purchase made and each and every donation that comes our way. Your support has a huge impact on so many children and others who are grateful beyond measure.
